Of Note: Teacher pay and retirement age

There are two items worth reading on the front page of the Daily Star this morning.

AZ teachers are paid far less than the national average even when taking into account cost of living in various places. It's not just about money. It's what the pay signifies: economic respect. (Daily Star article.)

The GOP candidates are hot on raising the retirement age to keep Social Security solvent. But differences in life expectancies among the rich and poor will put the burden of that increase on the poor. Only the rich then can afford a lengthy retirement. The poor get poorer and the rich get retirement. (Reprinted from Bloomberg.com.)
