Today's theme: Gun violence is a public health epidemic in want of a political solution

At least one segment of America has tacitly accepted thousands of deaths each year, many children, as the necessary price to pay for our 2nd amendment "rights." The rest of us may not agree but in our "numbness" we are complicit by inaction. We are also complicit because we send "leaders" to Congress and state legislatures who are ready meat for the maw of gun lobby cash and NRA threats. WE need to fix this.

Today I've assembled data-based opinion pieces from three sources providing the basis of a three-part call to action.

  1. Acknowledge the problem.
  2. Provide a rationale for change.
  3. Take political action to achieve that change.

I'll start with some humorous thoughts from Facebook. I'll end with some retrospective comments about the consequences of one possible political action.
