GOP Presidential candidate Ben Carson says the most outlandish things. Some of them illustrate his total lack of knowledge of matters presidential. Others are simply made up lies that embellish the phony record that so endears him to the religious right.
The latest flap concerns Carson's claim that he was offered a scholarship to West Point. Not true. So now he claims that it was an "informal" offer. Probably not true either, but he does manage to massage the truth when it suits him.
And that comes on the heels of other whoppers. Egyptian pyramids as grain silos (debunked by archeological evidence) . A history of violence, like stabbing his close friend (debunked by interviews with his contemporaries). Founding fathers lacked legislative experience (no legislature yet existed).
