Breaking (7:08 AM, Sunday, April 3rd): Kasich will leave punishment for abortion to the states

Yes, that is exactly what he is saying to George Stephanopoulos on This Week - right now! He "hopes" that Roe v. Wade will be overturned and then that it will be up to the states for "sort it out." With regard to punishment for women seeking abortions, he would not answer - at least not definitively. In Kasich's world view, it comes down to leaving Arizona to implement its outrageous law:

13-3604. Soliciting abortion; punishment; exception
A woman who solicits from any person any medicine, drug or substance whatever, and takes it, or who submits to an operation, or to the use of any means whatever, with intent thereby to procure a miscarriage, unless it is necessary to preserve her life, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not less than one nor more than five years.

I will grant that Kasich is sane, but that is a very low bar given the loonies the Republican party has unleashed on America. But don't think that the end result for women will be much different if Kasich manages to get the nomination.

My response to Kasich's view on abortion: "shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not less than one nor more than five years."
