America about to take a header into the Moore-al rabbit hole

Laurie Roberts (The Republic/azcentral.com) puts Trump’s endorsement of Roy Moore in the context of another scene in Trump’s unreal alt-universe in Trump endorses Roy Moore, sends us (farther) down the rabbit hole.

Monday morning Trump tweeted:

Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!

Roberts responded:

America awakened on Monday morning to learn that our president has endorsed a man accused of once molesting 14-year-old and 16-year-old girls.

Because, well … priorities.

Roberts explains: “In Donald Trump’s America, fake is real and real is fake, and things are never what they seem, even when they are.”

Meanwhile, 71 percent of Alabama voters say the women accusing Roy Moore of impropriety are all lying, according to a new CBS poll. Most think the women are part of one big conspiracy cooked up by either Democrats or the media.

Scriber interjects: “The CBS News 2017 Alabama poll is conducted by YouGov using a representative sample of 1,067 registered voters in Alabama…” You can’t get to those large numbers (71%) with just male voters. I wonder how the moms of the accusers would have voted.

Two women have said that Moore molested them when they were teens and he was in his 30s. A third said he grabbed her buttocks when she was 28 and seeking his help with legal work. Several others say he pursued them when they were teens and people in his hometown have said it was open secret that he liked the young ones.

Meanwhile, we have a president with 16 accusers of his own — one who has reportedly suggested that his own incriminating boasts about what he can get away with doing to women, caught on an Access Hollywood tape, aren’t real.

One who during last year’s campaign bragged, “I could stand in the middle Of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.”

One who now assures us that Roy Moore is fit to be in the United States Senate.

Welcome to Donald Trump’s America, where fake is real and real is fake, where right is relative and things are never what they seem … even when, well, they are.

It’s official, we have taken a header even deeper into the rabbit hole.

“Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end! ‘I wonder how many miles I’ve fallen,’ “ Alice said.

According to that CBS Poll, an accused child molester now leads Democrat Doug Jones, 49 to 43 percent, with eight days to go until the special election.

And the message to America’s daughters …

UPDATE: Mitt Romney weighed in Monday, proving that there are still Republicans who draw the line on putting potential pedophiles in high office.

Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity.

Sorry, Mitt. The GOP is already stained and you were complicit. The Republican party of Trump is without honor and integrity. The GOP lost those qualities by repeatedly voting against those Americans most vulnerable to loss of health care, most vulnerable to economic upsets. The GOP lost those qualities by voting for the interests of the moneyed 1%. In 2012, you said 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax. You were referring to candidate Obama’s base. “There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what.“ But you might just as well have been referring to the Trump/Moore base who, according to Trump, would let him get away with shooting someone in Times Square: “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.” You might just as well have been referring to Moore’s 49% in that CBS poll.

If anyone thinks I am being too harsh here, please read the sorry history of who knew what about Moore’s penchant for young girls in this Huff Post piece: Even Lawyers And Cops Knew About Roy Moore’s Behavior. Why Didn’t They Do Anything?. Everyone knew about Moore’s alleged predilection for young girls. Nobody could stop it. And many of those “everyone” will gladly vote for Moore.
