Trump's wall is all about perception, not reality

Quote of the Day: “Trump isn’t asking for the funds he needs to build a wall across the southern border. He is asking for the funds he needs to say he is building a wall across the southern border. $5 billion won’t pay for the wall he promised, but it’s more than enough for some impressive photo-ops.”

The quote is from Judd Legum’s post this morning at popular.info. (You will have to scroll down quite a ways to find that part.)

Trump is requesting $5 billion in funding for the wall. But, according to his administration’s own estimates, the wall would cost over $21 billion. A report from Senate Democrats says the actual cost could be over $70 billion.

So, if you want to know why Trump Digs In, Darkening Hopes for a Deal to End the Shutdown, there you have it. He wants everyone to believe he will pay for the wall even though, by claims by members of his own administration, like now former Chief of Staff John Kelley, he will not build it - ever.

You also should remember this is a con artist skilled at making perception reality. Congressional leaders would do well to remember that in today’s “briefing”.
