A view from the pulpit on Kim Davis and marriage licenses

Here is a letter at from a pastor on the separation of church and state and why Kim Davis is so very wrong.

I believe in the separation of church and state. The Kentucky county clerk who went to jail for her religious belief of marriage needs to realize that she is working for a state agency and the marriage licenses she issues has nothing to do with being married in the eyes of God.

To be married in the eyes of God is a church issue. The license is nothing but a state-owned piece of paper.

When asked if it was lawful to pay taxes, Jesus told the people to hold up a coin. Then he asked whose face was on the coin. They answered Caesars. Then Jesus said, "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s."

Hold up a marriage license and tell me whose name is on it.
