The top education official in the state has endorsed the Republican nominee for president.
In a statement Friday afternoon, Arizona Superintendent for Public Instruction Diane Douglas gave her endorsement to Donald Trump for the presidency.
"Mr. Trump shares my belief that the federal government's role in education needs to be reduced rather than expanded," she said in a news release.
Douglas joins other prominent Arizona politicians, including Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and state Treasurer Jeff DeWit, who have also endorsed Trump.
None of the people I talked to about this were supportive of Douglas. One former educator started to retch uncontrollably and only puked after we managed to close her laptop. Another started to giggle hysterically. Another was unsurprised: "What did you expect from Ms. Empty Head, you damn fool?"
Linda Lyons has a sparky, as in fireworks, response to Douglas also cross-posted here.
